2024 updates

Since the last post there have been quite a few changes to the organisation of the Trust. We have new chair, Colin Mumford, a Secretary and treasurer, Janice Smith and new members of the Board, Alistair Wilson and Robin Henderson. We have also progressed, albeit slowly, with several of the projects we spoke about in the last posting.

Probably the most significant development would be the impending acquisition of the Masons Hall. We reachd agreement with the Masons on the transfer of the property to RCT, and this is now proceeding with our solicitors. We are hopeful that a sucessful outcome will be achieved soon. We can then start to look at what we need to do to, initially, bring the building into use for the community. In the longer term we would aim to refurbish the building incorporating several of the improvements from th feasibility study we had carried out in 2016.

We are still interested in the old community hall behind the school. We have been progressing a Community Asset Transfer in regard to this building. Our Expression of Interest has been accepted and we must now consider how we take it forward. we think there may be number of uses to which this building might be put. One possibility could be some sort of museum to house artifacts and information on the history of Rhynie, including the return of Rhynie Man from Aberdeen. A Mens Shed has been mooted as another possibility. Any ideas or assistance from the community would be welcomed.
